23rd – 24th January 2010: 3rd Makerere-NUFU Linkage Project Seminar.
The MAK-NUFU Folklore Project has since 2008 held an annual seminar/symposium on on-going researches under the above programme. These seminars have been instrumental in motivating researchers to publish their works. The seminar was held the Women and Gender Studies Conference Hall, Makerere University.
18th – 22nd January 2010: 60th Graduation Ceremony.
This weeklong event was held at the Freedom Square, Makerere University and was presided over by the Chancellor, Prof. Mondo Kagonyera. Some of the highlights of the week included; the award of an Honorary Doctorate of Science to Dr. Endre Lillethun (in absentia), which was received by his wife, a record 40 PhD awards, a record 220 first-class degrees and for the first time ever, more female (50.4%) than male graduands.
4th January 2010: 1st Vice Chancellors Media briefing
During the inaugural media briefing, the Vice Chancellor introduced himself and members of Management and made presentations on plan to open upcountry campuses in Jinja and Fort Portal, improvement of Makerere University-Government relations, the status of the Deposit Administration Plan (DAP) scheme, the 60th Graduation Ceremony due 18th – 22nd January 2010, the availability of 13,178 transcripts to be issued during the graduation week and the commitment of the University Management to work with the Media.
