The Austrian Development Agency is pleased to announce that the second call for submissions to APPEAR – Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development – opened on 1st November 2010.

The Austrian Development Agency is pleased to announce that the second call for submissions to APPEAR – Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development – opened on 1st November 2010.The objective of APPEAR is to strengthen institutional capacities in higher education, research and management in the key regions of the Austrian Development Cooperation through academic partnerships with Austrian academic institutions and Master's and PhD Programmes as a contribution to sustainable reduction of poverty.

The second call is open for the following proposals/applications:
· Academic partnerships
· Preparatory funding
· Master's and PhD grants

Please note that during this call applications for the following Master’s Programmes are possible:
· International Master Program Mountain Forestry
· Master of Mountain Risk Engineering
· Master of Arts Program in Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation
· MA Programs in Peace & Conflict Studies
· Master’s Programme Applied Geo-informatics

Within a financed APPEAR partnership the possible Masters Programmes are not limited. The APPEAR partnership coordinator has to give reasons for the necessity of the Master’s application within the project.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
