Makerere University submitted a proposal for supporting ICT system and services as part of the appraisal process for this programme. Sweden decided to earmark 20million SEK for supporting this component of the program in anticipation of a review of our ICT support to partner Universities, including Uganda".
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe represented by Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the Director Research and Graduate Training highlighted the importance of the Multi-Stakeholder workshop.
"As part of the start of a new Phase (Nov 2015 – June 2010) of the research collaboration that also included a component of support for ICT services and systems, it was found necessary to conduct an assessment to validate the identified priority areas of support. The Sida ICT Assessment Report 2015 recommended that as a pre-condition for further support, Makerere University should revise its ICT Policy and Master Plan and re-institute sustainable funding policies and mechanisms for ICT operations, maintenance, upgrading, expansion, and human resource retention. It was agreed that this would be done in collaboration with Makerere’s Swedish ICT partner institution."
