BEGINNING OF SEMESTER 1 CIRCULAR, 2021/2022 ACADEMIC YEAR

1. Welcome

Happy New Year, 2022 to you all. You are welcome to Makerere University. The University opens to resident students on Saturday, 29th January, 2022 for Orientation week.

2. Registrations with the Halls of Residence/Attachment

All students are reminded and encouraged to register with the office of the Warden in their respective Halls of Residence/Attachment. Accurate information is an asset in solving many human issues that may arise during your stay on Campus and thereafter.

3. Academic Registration

Academic registration is at the core of your life at Campus. Confirm in good time that you are properly registered with your School/College Registrar for the courses you are going to offer this semester.

4. Payment of University Tuition and Other Fees

You are encouraged to (advise your benefactors to) settle University fees as soon as possible so that you settle to concentrate on redeeming your academic record. If you have brought tuition and fees with you, make sure all moneys are deposited on the University accounts for your safety and security. Officials of the University, particularly the Wardens, are requested to assist the new students.

5. Accommodation

Resident government students are expected to report to their Halls of Residence. The Wardens will guide you to the places of aboard. All the non-resident students are expected to have contacted private hostels and acquired accommodation for themselves. they should accordingly report to their places of residence in those private hostels.

Government students who are non-residents, will be paid Living-out Allowances to assist them offset part of the cost of accommodation in the private hostels.

6. Food Allowances for Government Students

All Government sponsored students (both Resident & Non-Resident) will be paid food allowances at the beginning of the semester through their personal bank accounts.

7. Personal Bank Accounts for Payment of Allowances

As indicated in 2 and 3 above, all government students will be paid their allowances through their personal bank accounts. Therefore, every student must have an active bank account in their registered names. Please open a bank account immediately, if you have not yet opened one, and submit the account number to the Warden of your Hall of Attachment on arrival.

8. Students with Disability

Government sponsored students with disabilities should report to their Wardens, who will guide them on how they can be assisted. Further guidance will be given from Room 214 in Senate Building beginning 29/01/2022.

9. Conclusion

Lastly,let me take this opportunity to congratulate all of you on being admitted to Makerere University. I wish you the best during your studies at this great University.

Special University Entry Examinations for the Diploma in Performing Arts 2026/27

Students from the Department of Performing Arts on 4th April 2025.

The Academic Registrar Makerere University invites applications for the Special University Entry Examinations for admission to the Diploma in Performing Arts.

The examination will take place on Saturday 16th May, 2026.

Application process is online for those intending to sit the examination. Kindly note that there is payment of a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000/- excluding bank charges in any (Stanbic Bank, Dfcu Post Bank, UBA and Centenary Bank). After filling the online application, you will be provided with 2 Past Papers.

To be eligible to sit the examinations, the candidate must possess an O’ Level Certificate (UCE) with at least 5 Passes.

The deadline for receiving the online applications is Tuesday 12th May 2026.

How to Apply

  • Application is online for ALL applicants.
  • Other relevant information can be obtained from Undergraduate Mature Age Office, Level 5, Room 505, Senate Building, Makerere University or can be accessed from https://see.mak.ac.ug
  • A non refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000= for Ugandans, East Africans Applicants (Including S. Sudan & DRC) OR US $ 75 or equivalent for international applicants plus bank charges should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Diploma Holders Admission Lists under Government Sponsorship for 2026/2027 AY

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released lists of Diploma holders admitted under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

Under the Diploma Holders Government Sponsorship Scheme admission does not exceed 5% of the intake capacity to the respective Degree Programme.

Mature Age Examination Results for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

Candidates who scored a minimum of 50% passed and have been recommended by the Pre-Entry & Mature Age Committee to the University’s Admissions Committee for consideration.

The Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027 can be accessed by following this link.
