Makerere University, the home of innovations on 13th November hosted a Hult prize information session in preparations for the forthcoming pitch competition scheduled for 9th December 2019.

The event that attracted students and with over 60 innovations from all corners and edges of the university was hosted at the Makerere University Senate Conference Room from 2:00 - 4:00pm.

The Hult Prize on-campus Directorate led by the Director, Mr. Silver Walugembe and the Ministry of ICT and research of the Students Guild led by the Honorable Kiggundu Rodney derived a great strategy of ideals for a series of the Hult Prize events for this year, with a sole goal of teams making it to the global stage competitions, whilst possessing a strong conviction of its possibility, this could only attract several partners i.e. MARULA creative consultancy alongside team Proteen, Marula Creative Consultancy, Legal Innovation Hub and Katende Ssempebwa Advocates.

During the session, all these parties of partners offered in depth knowledge and guidance to the teams participating in aspects of capacity building, confidence, pitching skills, choice of words, body movement among others whereas furthermore extending the courtesy by sharing the readable content over email.

The Directorate believes that experience is the best teacher hence invited team Proteen, a team that made it to the global stage competitions of the previous year to share their experience with the participants.

This was a very fruitful engagement as the participants were asked to do sample pitches hence realizing their areas of strength and weaknesses, this was summed up with a Q &A session. This eventually left the participants very contented and confident in their ideas and all believed that they could take up the challenge and traverse all the stages moving forward.

“Registration is still ongoing through our official link hultprizeat.com/makerere, we shall be closing this link on the 5th of December 2019” said Silver Walugembe, the campus Director.  The innovators are now looking forward to the pitch event on 9th December 2019 at CTF 2 auditorium and be part of the noble cause whilst having a chance to win US$1million.

We also extend our sincere appreciations to our partners, the participants and everyone else whose contribution has brought us this far and we hope to continue working closely with you to see that our dream is realized.

Thank you and God bless you all.
