The February 2017 Pitch Tuesday at the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), Makerere University featured the innovation; Scaling up Safe and Comfortable Bodas (SACOB) Saving Groups. The innovation is aimed at bringing together community saving groups to acquire and own motor cycles (Bodas) with a carrier that can be used for routine and emergency transport of patients in rural communities. With this transport platform, the members will have a chance to own a fleet of “low cost ambulances” and the revenue generated will be channeled into savings. The members will also be equipped with key information on investment, savings and credit and this will further increase their financial literacy.
