Professor Nelson Sewankambo, Principal, College of Health Sciences, is set to receive the Grand Silver Medal of the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
The Grand Silver Medal is awarded to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the mission of Karolinska Institutet, i.e. to contribute to the improvement of human health through research and education.
The Karolinska Institutet is celebrating its bicentenary this year (1810 – 2010) and as part of these celebrations, a Jubilee Medal has been established. There three classes of the medal are the Golden Medal, the Grand Silver Medal, and the Silver Medal.
Prof. Sewankambo’s Medal award decision follows a recommendation from the Karolinska Institutet 200 year anniversary Medal Committee to the Karolinska Institutet Management. The conferment will held later this evening 3rd November 2010, at an Inauguration Ceremony in Berwaldhallen, Stockholm.
