Monitoring and Assessment visit to Makerere University Affiliated Institutions

The team from the Directorate of Quality Assurance Makerere University concluded three weeks monitoring and evaluation visit to all affiliated institution for Makerere University. Some of institutions assessed were;  Makerere University Business School – Main Campus, Makerere University Business School – Mbarara Branch, National Major Seminary – Kinyamasika, National Major Seminary – Katigondo, National Major Seminary – Ggaba, Health Tutors College – Mulago, Uganda Institute of Bankers, Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development, Sheikh Technical Veterinary School (STVS) – Somaliland, Hospice Uganda, Senior Staff Command College – Kimaka (SSCK), Public Health Nurses College – Kyambogo, Uganda Military Academy – Kabamba (UMAK), National Defence College, Uganda, Senior Staff and Command College – Bwebajja (Police).

The purpose of this monitoring was to investigate:

  1. Acceptability of standards governing the performance operations and conduct of the institutions to the university council of the public university as stipulated in the (The University and Other Tertiary Institutions Act of 2001(amended in 2006) Section 65).
  2.  Institutional standards’ conformity to the standards set by National Council for Higher Education.
  3. The status of learning and teaching facilities.

The team concluded their visit with Makerere University Business School – Kampala on 18th June 2023 and some of the findings were the need for:

  1. Inclusion of quality assurance in all aspects of examination processes.
  2. Central marking and moderation of exams.
  3. Curbing examination malpractices by making everyone accountable including the examination invigilators.
  4. Examining the quality of examination paper bags.
  5. Ensuring that most of the Programs are reviewed and accredited by NCHE.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
