Scholarship Opportunity: PhD & Masters – Child Health & Development Centre (CHDC)

The Child Health and Development Centre (CHDC) www.chdc.mak.ac.ug  is a multi-disciplinary teaching and research unit at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, School of Medicine. The CHDC is part of a multi-country collaboration led by Oxford University, UK  which has received funding from LEGO and OAK Foundations to implement a project titled, ‘Global Parenting Initiative (GPI)’. The five-year collaboration aims to provide access to free evidence-based, playful parenting support to every parent everywhere, so that they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to help their children realise their learning potential and to prevent child sexual abuse, exploitation and family violence.

The project is soliciting applications for:

a) 1 PhD (3years) scholarship tenable at Makerere University. Interested PhD candidates who have already secured admission to Makerere University to commence PhD study relevant to the theme of the project starting 2022/2023, but have no funding, may also apply. Candidates sought must have completed their Masters degree with a quantitative orientation in a relevant field (MA/MSc.) Study fields include Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, Social Sciences or any other relevant discipline. Prior research experience in the areas of gender, parenting, violence and health is an added advantage.

b)1 Masters (2years) scholarship tenable at Makerere University.

Only candidates who have applied, or have secured admission to commence their studies in the academic year 2022/2023 will be considered.

Fields of study: Statistics, Demography, Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, or Social Sciences with a quantitative orientation.

Special University Entry Examinations for the Diploma in Performing Arts 2026/27

Students from the Department of Performing Arts on 4th April 2025.

The Academic Registrar Makerere University invites applications for the Special University Entry Examinations for admission to the Diploma in Performing Arts.

The examination will take place on Saturday 16th May, 2026.

Application process is online for those intending to sit the examination. Kindly note that there is payment of a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000/- excluding bank charges in any (Stanbic Bank, Dfcu Post Bank, UBA and Centenary Bank). After filling the online application, you will be provided with 2 Past Papers.

To be eligible to sit the examinations, the candidate must possess an O’ Level Certificate (UCE) with at least 5 Passes.

The deadline for receiving the online applications is Tuesday 12th May 2026.

How to Apply

  • Application is online for ALL applicants.
  • Other relevant information can be obtained from Undergraduate Mature Age Office, Level 5, Room 505, Senate Building, Makerere University or can be accessed from https://see.mak.ac.ug
  • A non refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000= for Ugandans, East Africans Applicants (Including S. Sudan & DRC) OR US $ 75 or equivalent for international applicants plus bank charges should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Diploma Holders Admission Lists under Government Sponsorship for 2026/2027 AY

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released lists of Diploma holders admitted under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

Under the Diploma Holders Government Sponsorship Scheme admission does not exceed 5% of the intake capacity to the respective Degree Programme.

Mature Age Examination Results for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

Candidates who scored a minimum of 50% passed and have been recommended by the Pre-Entry & Mature Age Committee to the University’s Admissions Committee for consideration.
