Call for Scholarship Application: CAMA Post-grad Research Assistantship at CEDAT

The Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) Germany, Makerere University, University of Nairobi (UoN) and Mekelle University (MU) Ethiopia have started a 4 year R&D project “Collaboration for Active Mobility in Africa-CAMA” under the program “Partnerships for sustainable solutions in sub-Sahara Africa“. The Project which is being funded by both the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aims to better capture the requirements of the pedestrians and cyclists and to illustrate their needs using digital surveys and crowd mapping approaches.

To facilitate the development and uptake of tailor-made solutions to promote active mobility, the project will utilise learning alliances (bringing together researchers, community representatives, decision makers and experts from the field) to prepare real-life experiments (living labs) and test innovative solutions. To achieve the aforementioned objective, the project intends to utilize some of the resources to recruit a PhD Student who will double as project admin for the project.

In this regard, the CAMA Uganda project is pleased to invite Ugandans to make applications for a the Post Graduate Research Assistantship Position at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University. Under this program you will be required to register as a PhD. Student at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (focusing on Non Motorised Traffic), which is subject to meeting the admission requirements of Makerere University. You will also be required to undertake Administration and Research project support.

The deadline for application is 8th September 2021.

Interested candidates can submit the following (i) up-to-date curriculum vitae/resume (of no more than 3 pages) in pdf (ii) supporting testimonials (iii) a one-page letter outlining their interest and motivation while highlighting a potential challenge in Non Motorised Traffic.

Advert: Application for Additional Undergraduate Programmes 2025/26

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications from Ugandan, East African, and international applicants for the undergraduate programmes under the private sponsorship scheme for the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

The following Programmes have been added:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer and Communications Engineering (CCE)
  • Bachelor of Social Sciences (Day and Evening)

Other relevant information can be obtained from UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS OFFICE, LEVEL 3, SENATE BUILDING OR CAN BE found on the University Website https://www.mak.ac.ug.

How to submit your application                                            

  1. Applicants should access the Institution’s Admissions URL https://apply.mak.ac.ug/
  2. Sign up by clicking on the REGISTER NOW. Use your full name, e-mail and Mobile No.  Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid.
  3. A password will be sent to you on your mobile phone and email.                                      
  4. The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
  5. To fill an application form, click on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the appropriate running scheme.                                              
  6. Obtain a payment reference number by clicking on “Pay for Form” Button
  7. Make a payment at any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority                                            

MOBILE MONEY PAYMENT STEPS:                                                 

  1. Dial *272*6# on either MTN or Airtel                                                             
  2. Select option 3-Admission                                                     
  3. Select option 3-Pay Fees
  4. Enter reference number obtained from Application portal 
  5. Details of Application form will be confirmed                                                              
  6. Enter PIN to confirm payment                                                            

The closing date for receiving applications to undergraduate programmes shall be Tuesday 20th May 2025.                                                           

WARNING:                                                             

  1. Applicants are strongly warned against presenting forged or other people’s academic documents to support their applications for admission.  The consequences, if discovered, are very grave indeed.
  2. Do not buy any other documents not originating from the Academic Registrar’s Office.  Those who buy them do so at their own risk. 
  3. The Academic Registrar has not appointed any agent to act on his behalf to solicit for additional funds other than the application fee stated above.    
  4. Applicants are advised to use the right programme names and codes. the university will not be responsible for any wrong information entered in the system by applicants.

CEDAT embarks on revolutionizing Teaching, Research, and Innovation to Meet Societal Needs

The College of engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) embarked on the process for reviewing the ways of teaching and learning, research and innovation in order to produce graduates that are well shaped to meet the needs of the society.A two-day strategy workshop was convened from 14th to 15th April 2025 at Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe, bringing together academia and others stakeholders, under the Theme; ‘Advancing Education, Research, Innovation for a transformative Future in Engineering, Design, Art and technology’.

The engagement was aimed at advancing the institution’s leadership, management practices, and its core academic functions and discussed strategies for driving excellence and preparing graduates for the job market.  It centered on three main objectives: promoting a better understanding of the roles of Academic Leaders and Administrative Heads in carrying out the University’s core functions, enhancing college management through effective customer care, communication, and documentation practices, and advancing teaching, research, and innovation to produce job-ready graduates.
