The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications from suitable candidates for admission to Master of Social Work at the College of Humanities and Social
Sciences
for 2020/2021 Academic Year.

Tuition Fees

  UG Shs. 5,150,000 UG Shs. 9,000,000

Sponsorship
All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where
applicable. Applicants should note that fees payable to the University indicated above EXCLUDES functional fee s, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.

Admission ReQuirements
In addition to General Admission Requirements of Makerere University, eligible candidates must have the following qualifications:
a) A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Gender and Women Studies) and other humanities courses; Development
Studies, Anthropology and Law with a second class upper or it's equivalent from a Chartered University.
b) Applicants with a lower degree in the above qualifications will need to have 2 years of supervised work experience in human services.
 

Duration of Program
Two Academic Years

Application Procedure
1. Visit the Makerere University's Admissions URL https://admissions.mak.ac.ug and generate a Payment Reference Number (PRN) by following the guide below.

2. Sign up using full name, e-ma il and Mobile No. Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be
considered valid.

3. A password will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile number.

4. The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.

5. To fill a form the applicant clicks on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the appropriate scheme i.e. Postgraduate and Taught PhD.

6. Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on "Pay for Form" button Application fee = Ugx 50,000 (East African applicants) or Ugx 151,500 (International Applicants)
For foreign applicants, application fees can be transferred either by EFT or any other means in UGX to a designated URA collection account in Bank of Uganda as
follows:

7. Make a payment at any of the fo llowing Banks:
(a) Stanbic
(b) Post Bank
(c) Centenary Bank
(d) DFCU Bank
(e) UBA Bank

8. Print 2 copies of the fi lled biodata form and attach 2 certified copies of your academic documents, 2 copies of a ll other relevant academic documents, 2 passport photos and
the three referees' letters of recommendation.

9. Submit in office No. 307; level 3 Senate Building Or email scanned copies of the mentioned documents to drgt@rgt.mak.ac.ug.

10. Strictly observe the closing date of Friday, 28th August, 2020

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).
