Mak Council and Senate Toast to a Blissful 2019 and Harmonious 2020

At a colorful ceremony that was organized by the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, on Friday 20th December 2019, Members of Council; led by the Vice Chairperson of Council Rt. Hon. Daniel Fred Kidega, and Senate toasted to a blissful end of 2019.

Geusts treated to a sumptuous dinner prepared by Makerere University Guest House.

Together with invited guests, members recognized 2019 as a year of building peace and strengthening relationships between University leadership, staff and students.

According to Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Makerere University has been driven to normalcy in 2019 under the new Council leadership.  He thanked the University Council, Senate, staff and students for the cooperation. He prayed for a reenergized 2020, full of blessings and remarkable achievements.

Representing Mrs. Lorna Magara, the Chairperson of Council, Rt. Hon. Kidega acknowledged the tremendous support extended to Council by staff and students.

“As council we have just marked one year in office but our strength to serve has been built on staff and students’ dedication towards building a greater Makerere.  We have made remarkable achievements because you have supported us. Thank you so much,” he said.

Guests were entertained by  Makerere University School of Performing Arts and Film.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner prepared by Makerere University Guest House and impressive performances from students of Performing Arts and Film.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

SoL Graduands celebrate after being conferred upon their awards. 75th Graduation Ceremony, Day 1, CoCIS, CEES, CoVAB and School of Law. 13th January 2025, Freedom Square, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda, East Africa.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
