The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training (DRGT), Makerere University announces the PhD Cross cutting Training Course on Scholarly Writing and Communication Skills.

  • Course Duration: 19th to 23rd August, 2019
  • Venue: Senate Building, Telepresence Room
  • Who should apply: PhD Students
  • Maximum Number of Participants: 50
  • Latest Date of application: Monday 12th August, 2019

The three credit unit course is among the required PhD crosscutting courses to equip PhD students with the knowledge and skills in effective writing and presentations. The course deals with the publication process from the perspective of the author of a scholarly piece of work and the editor of a journal. Given the amount of time that PhD students spend writing and preparing to present, students should invest in a systematic study of scholarly writing and communication.

Applicants should submit their applications with evidence of admission and good academic standing of the PhD Program. ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS SHALL BE CONTACTED.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
