The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, has today, Monday, 27th November 2017 held the monthly press briefing, aimed at sharing the latest information on research and innovations as well as updating the public on the latest measures to improve staff and student welfare and institutional financial sustainability.
The College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) featured at this month's briefing and was represented by the Principal, Prof. J.Y.T. Mugisha, Dr. Arthur K. Tugume and Dr. Anne Margaret Akol. Dr. Tugume made a presentation on Integrated Crop Management for scaling up Banana Production in East Africa while Dr. Akol made a presentation on Enhancing Production and Incomes in the honey value chain by addressing the challenge of pests and parasites of honeybees in Uganda.
Reacting to the presentations, Prof. Nawangwe reiterated Makerere University's commitment to produce research relevant to societal problems; that contributes to the reduction of hunger, improves food security and household incomes. He further gave updates on the commencement of semester one 2017/2018 examinations, the upcoming Makerere University Property Investor Conference as well as the revival of the Mak Bulletin.
The Vice Chancellor's presentation was supplemented with input from the Academic Registrar-Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah, University Secretary-Mr. Charles Barugahare, Director Planning and Development-Dr. Florence Nakayiwa and the Acting CEO Mak Holdings Company-Mr. Moses Nadiope.
