ITU Broadband Course by Distance Learning Jun-Aug 2011

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) , is holding a distance learning course on "Broadband for English speaking countries in Africa", to be conducted from 27 June to 5 August 2011. This course is organized jointly by the ITU and Telkom Centre for Learning (CFL) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This distance learning course is part of the capacity building partnership between the ITU and Telkom SA, under the aegis of the Centers of Excellence network for Africa. This training is part of the 2011 action plan adopted by the Steering Committee of the Centers of Excellence Network for Africa.

This course is targeted at managers, engineers and employees from regulators, government organizations, telecommunication companies and academia, interested in learning more about the characteristics, dynamics, trends and status of broadband provisioning and access in Africa.
The participants will gain a clear understanding of the practical implementation of the broadband landscape and an effective and comprehensive learning on mobile broadband trends in Africa.

This course will cover a wide range of broadband network topics as follows:

  • Current and future Broadband landscape in Africa , including a discussion on South Africa as an example
  • African broadband trends with a special country focus en Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria
  • Mobile Broadband trends in Africa
  • Regulatory impact on the future of African Broadband provisioning and access
  • Current and future plans of Broadband enabling providers: Seacom, Telkom SA,Vodacom /Vodafone, MTN

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
