The Network of Migration Research on Africa (NOMRA) hereby invites research proposals from young scholars/junior researchers.
The following are the five broad themes for 2011:
- Entrepreneurial and skills development for youths to mitigate irregular migration
- Promoting financial literacy to enhance use of remittances at the micro, family level
- Local development initiatives involving Diaspora groups: enhancing social and economic remittances
- International students' mobility: its social and economic costs to sending communities
- Female migration, changing gender roles and welfare of families left behind
While we welcome proposals solely by young scholars/junior researchers, collaborative research between well-established researchers and young scholars that aid mentorship for the junior researchers involved are encouraged.
The small-scale research proposals should be accomplished within the limited budget of $2,000 – $3,000. About 6 such proposals will be supported by NOMRA.
Proposals in French or English of no more than two (2) pages, single-spaced (Times New Roman, 12’ font) must reach NOMRA’s secretariat by Thursday, 31st March, 2011. Besides this, information relating to the name, address, phone number and email of (all) researchers as well as a budget must accompany submission.
Please note that NOMRA will not process proposals that have been funded or that are in the process for funding from donors.
The proposal should be sent by email to nomra7@gmail.com with copy to info@nomra.org
