On the 19th of July 2022, Makerere University Hospital in the quest to improve service delivery, launched a hospital management system developed by Mak Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Support (DICTS).
At the event, the Director DICTS, Mr. Samuel Paul Mugabi said, “The launch is about rolling out the system in the hospital to operationalize it. The first module has been developed and it will cater for patient registration, as we continue to develop and improve the system, the other modules will get on board.”
The Director of the Mak University Hospital – Dr. Josaphat Byamugisha welcomed everyone and thanked DICTS for the making the system development a priority.
“It’s the beginning of a very big step in operationalizing ICT in the University hospital”, Dr. Byamugisha remarked.
Dr. David Kiwana from DICTS, and the coordinator of the development said, “We are launching the first module of the Mak Hospital Management System. A lot of input from the hospital has come through to ensure that we get to this stage”.

“We are starting on the first module (Patient registration) and this is like a pilot, we would like to see that the registration component thoroughly working well”, Dr. Kiwana added.
The developer, Mr. Samuel Wamukota gave some insights into the system. He said that there are five modules: Facility Management, System User Management, Patient Management, Supplies Catalogue and Financial Management.
Mak staff and students will be able to use the Single Sign-on feature that was also developed by DICTS to enable staff to book hospital visits, consequently reducing time in the queue. University staff will use their Makerere webmail credentials to access the system.

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.
The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).
