Semester Calendar for 2020/2021

To All Students

  1. The Semester dates remain as approved by Senate (30th August 2021 – 29th January 2022).
  2. Finalists and graduate students report on 1st November 2021 to attend physical lectures for two weeks ending on 13th November 2021.
  3. Finalists and graduate students sit for exams for two weeks from 15th to 27th November 2021.
  4. (i) First Year students report for 4 weeks of physical teaching from 1st to 27th November 2021.
    (ii) First YEAR Students will be on ODEL mode of teaching from 29th November to 24th December 2021.
  5. (i) Second Year and all other continuing students will be on ODEL mode of teaching and learning from 1st November to 27th November 2021.
    ii) Second Year and all other continuing students report on campus for 4 weeks from 27th November to 24th December 2021 of physical teaching and learning.
  6. First Year and all continuing students sit examinations for two weeks from 3rd January 2022 to 15th January 2022.
  7. (i) Recess Term of 2 weeks from 29th November 2021 to 11th December 2021 has been reserved for Group 1 and Group 2 (Medical and Health Sciences, Finalists and Graduate students).
    (ii) Recess Term of 2 weeks from 17th January to 29th January 2022 has been reserved for
    Group 3 (First Year and all continuing students).

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
