The Chancellor, Prof. Ezra Suruma during the third of five sessions conferred degrees and awarded diplomas to graduands from the College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS), College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS) and the College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (CoVAB).
Taking graduands on a journey of his personal experience as a student at Fordham University in New York City and subsequent return to find Uganda in a state of both political and economic shock in 1973, Prof. Suruma reassured graduands that no man or circumstance can nullify the purpose of God for their lives.
“My simple testimony is that God has taken me through all these upheavals. I believe that he has used me to fulfill the purpose for which He created me and I want you to stand firm in the belief, in the faith, that God has a purpose for your life and that purpose will be fulfilled” he said.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe noted that the graduates of Veterinary Medicine, Business and Management and Computing were joining the workforce at a time when their input would be most needed to help the Country implement the Parish Development Model.
“As you struggle to find your place in society, you might stumble and fall, but always have the courage to stand up and try again with dignity. Your success is our pride. Avoid vain ambitions and keep away from corruption” counseled the Vice Chancellor.
