5th CLE Moot Court Before Judges at the High Court, 25th April 2019, 2:00pm - 5:00pm, Kampala Uganda

On Thursday, 25th April 2019, Law students in the Clinical Legal Education (CLE) Program will conduct a moot Court before Judges at the High Court of Uganda from 2:00 to 5:00 p:m.

The Moot Court will be presided over by a number of Judges that include; The Deputy Chief Justice of Uganda, Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo, Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Justice Olive Kazzarwe and Justice Lydia Mugambe.

Moot courts, one of the practical ways used by the School of Law in teaching and learning have over the years helped to produce some of the best orators Nationally and Internationally that have made the School of Law and Makerere University proud.

During the moot, students will get an opportunity of facing actual and not imaginary Judges. They will however debate an imaginary scenario and the objective is for them to learn  oratory skills, to undertake research and make presentation before court. This is the 5th in a row of organised with support from the PUBLIC Interest Law Clinic (PILAC).

Further on Friday 26th April 2019 at the School of Law, there will be yet another moot organised under the Disability Rights Program. A keynote speech on Realizing the Rights of Persons With Albinism in Uganda will be delivered by Ms. Olive Namutebi, Executive Director of the Albinism Umbrella.

In addition to the skills learning, the Moot will create more awareness about Disability rights issues.
