Call for applications:Admission to Bachelor of Education External (BED) 2019/20

The Academic Registrar, Makerere university invites applications for admission to a three-year BACHELOR OF EDUCATION EXTERNAL (BED) degree programme for the 2019/2020 academic year.

Requirements:

  1. Each applicant should hold at least a credit or second class diploma in education from a recognised institution, plus UCE with at least 5 passes or its equivalent and UACE with at least one principal pass and two subsidiary passes of the relevant principal subjects or its equivalent. Candidates whose “O” and “A” level results are of grades “Y”, “Z”, “7” AND “9” should not apply because they are not eligible for admission, and candidates who hold 3RD CLASS OR PASS DIPLOMAS need not apply.

  2. A certified copy of diploma academic transcript from the awarding institution must be attached to the application form. Each applicant should also attach a copy of her/his birth certificate to the application form.

NB: Candidates will be responsible for verification of their academic documents from the awarding institutions after admission.

  1. Candidates are warned against submitting forged academic documents as this will lead to automatic cancellation of admission, revocation of award where applicable and prosecution in the courts of law.

The fees payable by Ugandan applicants which are subject to review are as follows:

Tuition Fees – Shs.460,000/= Per Semester

Registration Fee – Shs.115,000/= Per Year

Examination Fee – Shs.115,000/= Per Year

Development Fee – Shs.142,025/= Per Year

Field Attachment Fee – Shs.115,000/= Per Semester For Year One Only

Technology Fee – Shs. 57,500/= Per Year

Research Fee – Shs. 23,000/= Per Year

Library Fees – Shs. 23,000/= Per Year

University Identity Card – Shs.45,000/=

Academic Gown – Shs.18,400/=

Caution – Shs.2,300/=

Guild Fee – Shs.11,500/= Per Year

Senior Common Room Fee – Shs.5,750/= Per Year

Sports Contribution – Shs.17,250/= Per Year

Endowment Fee – Shs.11,500/= Per Year

National Council For

Higher Education Fee – Shs. 20,000/= Per Year (Payable to NCHE)

A non-refundable application fee of Shs.50,000/= plus the bank charges should be paid to any Stanbic bank, OR DFCU BANK, UBA BANK, POST BANK, CENTENARY BANK before collecting the application form from the ADMISSION OFFICE (ROOM NO. 317), LEVEL 3, Academic Registrar’s Department in the Senate Building, Makerere University, from where additional information may be obtained.

The closing date for submission of applications is Thursday 28th February, 2019.

  1. HOW TO APPLY

Application will be online using the new AIMS System after getting a pay reference number using the new AIMS System Number but you will have to submit certified copies of your Diploma transcripts and certificates and a passport size photograph to office 317, level 3 Senate Building after payment of application fees.

  1. Applicants should access the Institution’s Admissions URL http://admissions.mak.ac.ug
  2. Signup using full name, e-mail and Mobile No. Please note that your name must be similar to the one on your supporting academic documents for your application to be considered valid. If you changed your names please go to Senate Building Office 301 with an affidavit supporting the name change.
  3. A password will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile number.
  4. The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
  5. To fill a form the applicant clicks on the APPLY NOW button displayed on the running scheme.
  6. Obtain a payment advice slip by clicking on “Pay for Form” button
  7. Make a payment at any of the following Banks:
  • Stanbic
  • Post Bank
  • Centenary Bank
  • DFCU Bank
  • UBA Bank

WARNING

  1. Applicants are strongly warned against presenting forged or other people’s academic documents to support their applications for admission. The consequences, if discovered, are very grave indeed.
  2. Do not buy any other documents not originating from the Academic Registrar’s Office. Those who buy them do so at their own risk.
  3. The Academic Registrar has not appointed any agents to act on his behalf to solicit for additional funds other than the application fee stated above.

Launch of Mak-RIF Round 4 Awards & PhD Call for Proposals

Mak-RIF 4 Awards and PhD Call For Proposals, 29th September 2022, 9:00 to 10:00 AM EAT.

Makerere University received funding from the Government of the Republic of Uganda, earmarked to support high impact Research and Innovations. This unique initiative arose after engagements between the top University Management and the Government of Uganda. This fund illustrates the increasing importance that the Government attaches to Research and Innovation as a driver of development and transformation. The objective of the fund is to increase the local generation of translatable research and scalable innovations that address key gaps required to drive Uganda’s development agenda. 

In the Financial years 2019/2020, 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 the Government of the Republic of Uganda through Mak-RIF has funded implementation of over 750 multidisciplinary research and innovations within the various Colleges, while engaging multiple stakeholders within and outside Makerere University. The Grants Management Committee (GMC) has finalized the award process for the Mak-RIF round 4 call for funding for this Financial Year 2022/2023.

Notice: Makerere Disability Scheme 2022/23 Medical Review Exercise

One of the PWD graduands at the 69th Graduation during the Session held on 17th January 2019.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites persons with disability who applied for admission to public universities under the disability entry scheme for 2022/2023 Academic Year to appear for medical/review exercise at Makerere Unive, Senate Building, Level Two (2) in the Telepresence Centre.

NOTE: Only those who have the minimum entry requirements of at least two principal passes at A’ Level or its equivalent and at least five (5) passes at O’ Level or its equivalent will be interviewed.

 Only candidates who sat ‘a’ level in 2020, 2019 and 2018 are eligible for admission.

THE EXERCISE WILL BE CONDUCTED ON 3rd, 4th and 5th October, 2022 respectively from 9.00 A.M – 1.00 P.M each day.

IMPORTANT:

(i) If you fail to appear on any of the given days above, there will be no other chance for you.

(ii) Applicants with Government Scholarship for the previous years are not eligible for admission

Uganda’s policymakers implored to address forest loss, plastic & water pollution

The Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe on Thursday 22nd September, 2022 participated in the opening of the EfD Annual meeting hosted by Makerere University at Speke Resort Munyonyo where he appealed to government to implement the ban on kaveera and address other environmental issues.

The opening ceremony moderated by the EfD Global Hub Manager Gunnar Köhlin and was graced by Uganda’s Minister for Water and Environment represented by the Commissioner for Water, Mr. Julius Mafumbo and the Swedish Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Maria Håkansson.
