Mak Hosts First International Conference on Open, Distance and E-learning

Makerere University is hosting the 1st International Conference on Open, Distance and eLearning (DELC 2018 International Conference) from 9th to 10th July, 2018 in the Main Hall. The Conference was officially opened on Monday, 9th July 2017 by Dr. Eria Hisali, the Principal, College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. The conference was also graced by the Rector of University of Agder, Norway Prof. Frank Reichert, Principal and Deputy Principal College of Education and External Studies (CEES), Prof. Fred Masagazi Masaazi and Dr. Paul Muyinda Birevu respectively among other dignitaries and delegates.

The DELC 2018 International Conference titled ‘’1st International Conference on Open, Distance and eLearning (DELC 2018 International Conference)’’ is a result of collaboration between the School of Distance and Lifelong Learning in the College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and the University of Agder- Norway in Implementing the Distance Education Leapfrogging Project. The collaboration is funded by Norad through the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED).

The Conference deliberations will be on the following theme and Sub-themes:

Theme: ‘’Emerging Open Distance and eLearning (ODeL) Technologies to Promote Inclusive, Quality and Equitable Education’’

Sub-themes:

  1. Innovative Pedagogies
  2. Emerging ODeL Technologies.

The conference is aimed at sharing and discussing recent developments in the use of technologies to promote Sustainable Development.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
