Mr. Robert Kabushenga, The New Vision Group CEO yesterday afternoon paid a courtesy call on Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Venansius Baryamureeba. He was accompanied by the Group’s Advertising Manager Godfrey Mulengi and Senior Sales Executive Bonny Mubangizi on a visit aimed at reviving the Makerere-New Vision partnership.
Professors Tibatemwa-Ekirikubinza and Tickodri-Togboa, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellors for Academic Affairs and Finance & Administration respectively took part in the meeting, which was also attended by Dr. Maria Musoke, University Librarian, Mr. John Ekudu, The Dean of Students and Mr. Sebastian Ngobi, Director Human Resources.
In his address, Prof. Baryamureeba thanked Mr. Kabushenga and his team for initiating the visit and recognizing the need to revitalize the partnership, despite all varying opinions that are often expressed in the media about the University.
Mr. Kabushenga in his remarks expressed The New Vision Group's willingness to work together with the Makerere University Management to bolster Makerere’s brand image and name as the leading Academic Institution in the region.
With this partnership, he hoped that Makerere would help the media better understand its objectives as expressed in the new Ten-Year strategic plan through activities like a Media Open Day hosted and organized by Makerere University. Editorial teams from different houses could then be invited either jointly or as individual teams for a day of interaction and bonding.
In addition, Mr. Kabushenga appreciated the support received from Makerere University through advertisements, special pull-outs and University guides as published by the New Vision and foresaw the harnessing and further strengthening of this relationship through timely involvement in planning of university activities and events so as to maximize on publicity.
