Korea-Uganda 60th Anniversary Event: 2023 K-POP Festival

As part of the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Korea-Uganda diplomatic relations, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Uganda is organizing the 2023 K-POP Festival in Uganda. K-POP stands for Korean Popular Music and this festival will include a K-POP singing or dancing contest open to both individuals and groups. There will be auditions and a final event that are in person and open to the public.

1. Eligibility

  • The contest is open to all Ugandans
  • Participation is as an individual or in a group

2. How to apply

Fill in the application form at https://han.gl/kYREFi and be present on the day of the auditions. The application deadline is 15th May 2023.

3.Events

  • 1) 1st Round: Auditions
    • Date: Saturday 20th May 2023
    • Venue: Makerere University Yusuf Lule Auditorium
    • Time: Starting at 1:00 pm

There will also be a K-POP Random Play Dance event, and everyone is invited to participate and watch . Successful applicants will qualify for the Grand K-POP festival.

  • 2) 2nd Round: Grand K-POP Festival
    • Date: Friday 26th May 2023
    • Venue: Makerere University Yusuf Lule Auditorium
    • Time: 1:00 pm
    • Number of Winners: 4 (Gold 1, Silver 1, Bronze 2)

4. Key points

  • Fill in the online application form (one form for an individual participant or one form for group participation) and get ready to show your talent
  • Only K-POP songs will be considered
  • The Evaluation Criteria is as as follows;
    • Choreography, Composition, Uniformity 30%
    • Expression 40%
    • Stage Charisma 30%
  • For participants dancing, those who closely who closely follow the original choreography of the K-POP song will be awarded higher scores
  • The Top Three winners (Dance 2, Vocal 1) will qualify for the Global Audition of the K-POP World 2023 in Korea

Special University Entry Examinations for the Diploma in Performing Arts 2026/27

Students from the Department of Performing Arts on 4th April 2025.

The Academic Registrar Makerere University invites applications for the Special University Entry Examinations for admission to the Diploma in Performing Arts.

The examination will take place on Saturday 16th May, 2026.

Application process is online for those intending to sit the examination. Kindly note that there is payment of a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000/- excluding bank charges in any (Stanbic Bank, Dfcu Post Bank, UBA and Centenary Bank). After filling the online application, you will be provided with 2 Past Papers.

To be eligible to sit the examinations, the candidate must possess an O’ Level Certificate (UCE) with at least 5 Passes.

The deadline for receiving the online applications is Tuesday 12th May 2026.

How to Apply

  • Application is online for ALL applicants.
  • Other relevant information can be obtained from Undergraduate Mature Age Office, Level 5, Room 505, Senate Building, Makerere University or can be accessed from https://see.mak.ac.ug
  • A non refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000= for Ugandans, East Africans Applicants (Including S. Sudan & DRC) OR US $ 75 or equivalent for international applicants plus bank charges should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Diploma Holders Admission Lists under Government Sponsorship for 2026/2027 AY

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released lists of Diploma holders admitted under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

Under the Diploma Holders Government Sponsorship Scheme admission does not exceed 5% of the intake capacity to the respective Degree Programme.

Mature Age Examination Results for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

Candidates who scored a minimum of 50% passed and have been recommended by the Pre-Entry & Mature Age Committee to the University’s Admissions Committee for consideration.

The Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027 can be accessed by following this link.
