Press Release: RUFORUM Recognizes Two Higher Education Champions

Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), a network of 129 African universities operating in 38 countries across Africa has created impact across the continent which has been due to the contributions from several individuals, Institutions and Members. In a meeting held in 2007 at Maputo, Mozambique, the RUFORUM Vice Chancellors decided that RUFORUM should recognize individuals who have made significant contribution towards Higher Education and broad development in Africa. Today 6th May 2021, RUFORUM recognized the contribution of two higher education champions from Uganda, Professor Pancras John Mukasa Ssebuwufu and Dr. Gabriel Gadison Ajedra Aridru.

Professor Pancras John Mukasa Ssebuwufu has held various leadership positions in higher education as Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University, Director of Research and Programmes at the Association of African Universities, Chancellor of Kyambogo and of Kampala International Universities, Principal of Kisubi Brothers University College, Principal of Kyambogo Institute of Teacher Education and he is the current and pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kisubi in Kampala, Uganda

Professor Ssebuwufu has made many distinguished accomplishments in the field of higher education and its management on the African continent.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
