Joshua Cheptegei does it again!

Congratulations Joshua Cheptegei for once again making Uganda proud.

He set a new World Record in the men’s 10,000m race when he clocked 26:11:02 to to break Ethiopian running legend Kenenisa Bekele’s 26:17:53 World Record that had stood for fifteen years.

The feat was achieved at the NN World Record Day in Valencia Spain, where Letesenbet Gidey set a new World Record in the Women’s 5,000m race when she clocked 14:06:65 to break fellow Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba’s 14:11:15 set twelve years ago.

Participating in UNESCO Day-Padua

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe (4th L) with the Mayor of Padua City and other officials that participated in UNESCO Day, Padua, Italy.

Our delegation has participated in the UNESCO DAY in Padua. We met the Governor of Venice Province and the Mayor of Padua City. Padua City has several UNESCO World Heritage sites and Makerere is collaborating with Padua to apply for UNESCO recognition of Mt. Moroto as a World Heritage site due to its unique flora and fauna.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe (C) at the MoU signing ceremony with the University of Padua and the University of Catania on 22nd September 2021, Padua Italy.

Today in Padua, Italy I have signed MOUs with the University of Padua (UniPD) and the University of Catania (UniCT). We have agreed to cooperate on academic exchange, joint research and others. Together, we should work to make the World a better place.
