Announcement for New Undergraduate Programmes 2017/2018

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to the following new programmes to be offered for the 2017/2018 Academic year as follows:

A.    College of Agricultural & Environment Sciences (CAES)
(a)    Government Programme (25 slots)
1.    BCF    Bachelor of Science in Forestry 4 Years(Government sponsorship for Ugandans only)
    NB:    Students already admitted on government will not be considered.
(b)    Private Programme
Day Programme (80 slots)
2.    BCF    Bachelor of Science in Forestry (4 Years)
3.    BTH    Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management (3 Years)
4.    BGS    Bachelor of Geographical Sciences     (3 Years)

B.    College of Computing and Information Technology (CoCIS)
(a)      Government Programme (25 slots)
1.    BST    Bachelor of Information Systems & Technology (3 Years) Government sponsorship for Ugandans only.
NB: Students already admitted on government will not be considered.
(b) Private Programme 
Day Programme (200 slots)
2.    BST    Bachelor of Information Systems & Technology         
Evening Programme (200 slots)
3.    BSI    Bachelor of Information Systems & Technology         

C.  College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources & Bio-Security (CoVAB)
Private Programme
Day Programme (420 slots)
1.    BLB    Bachelor of Industrial Livestock and Business (with options for specialization in Year two:

(i)  Dairy Industry & Business 

(ii) Poultry Industry & Business 

(iii)Feed Industry & Business

(iv)Leather Industry & Business

(v) Commercial Insects & Wildlife Industry

(vi)Ranching & Meat Industry     

 Application Procedure:
(i)    Application forms for A’level and Diploma/Degree Holder applicants can be picked from Office 314, Level 3 Senate Building.  Other relevant information can be obtained from Undergraduate Admissions Office, Level 3, Senate Building, Makerere University, or can be downloaded from our Website www.mak.ac.ug with effect from Thursday 17th August, 2017.

(ii)    Non-refundable application fee of Shs.50,000/= for Ugandan, East African and S.Sudan applicants or equivalent of  $75 for Internationals plus Bank Charge should be paid from the following Banks:

(iii)    Candidates who hold Grades X, Y, Z, 7 and 9 of  O’level Results should not apply because they are not eligible.
(iv)    Diploma Holder applicants who hold Class three (3) Diploma Certificates or Pass Diplomas are not eligible for admission and therefore should not apply, Except where stated in the Diploma Holders Requirements.

The closing date for receiving applications will be Thursday 31st August, 2017.

WARNING:    

(i)    Applicants are strongly warned against presenting forged or other people's academic documents to support their applications for admission.  The consequences, if discovered, are very grave indeed.

(ii)    Do not buy any other documents not originating from the Academic Registrar's Office.  Those who buy them do so at their own risk.
                
(iii)    The Academic Registrar has not appointed any agents to act on his behalf to solicit for additional funds other than the application fee stated above.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
