The proposed meeting will present a timely forum for a joint review of the outgoing programs, assess the performance of the ongoing projects, recognize the milestones so far achieved and agree recommendations for Makerere University’s way forward.
The Stakeholders' Consultative meeting slated for 26th – 27th March 2009 will bring together the University and her development partners. The proposed meeting will present a timely forum for a joint review of the outgoing programs, assess the performance of the ongoing projects, recognize the milestones so far achieved and agree recommendations for Makerere University’s way forward.
The University has just completed the drafting of her 10-year Strategic Plan which sets the parameters for the institution’s new strategic direction over the next decade. The new plan addresses not only the core activities of teaching and learning, research and partnerships, but also tackles key cross-cutting issues such as Quality Assurance, ICT, Human Resource development, Library services and physical infrastructure as well as gender mainstreaming.
Makerere’s current strategic thrust demands that the institution strives to raise standards to compete with the world’s best. The in-coming 10-year Strategic Plan lays out an ambitious and far-reaching road-map that aims to re-position Makerere as a world class institution of higher learning by investing in world-class quality academic leadership, resolving the challenge of inadequate infrastructure, and most importantly, strengthen existing and forge new and viable partnerships to provide the synergies that underpin the achievements of today’s academic world.
The specific objectives of the stakeholder’s consultative meeting are;
- To show case the developments at Makerere after the previous stakeholders meeting.
- To present Makerere’s new strategic direction as embedded in the new strategic plan 2008/09-2018/19 to the stakeholders.
Expected Outcomes
The anticipated outcomes from the meeting include the following;
- Improved potential for the University’s sustainability program.
- An improved appreciation of Makerere’s new strategic direction.
- Consolidation of relationships with stakeholders
