Mak VC Search-Council Recommends Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe

At a special meeting held today,Thursday 29th June 2017, Makerere University Council considered the recommendation of the University Senate.

The University Senate on Wednesday 28th June 2017 endorsed the Vice Chancellor Search Committee report recommending three (3) candidates namely: Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Prof. Edward K. Kirumira and Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba.

According to the Chairperson of Council, Eng. Dr. Charles Wana-Etyem, 22 members of Council have participated in the voting process:

i) Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe received 16 votes.
ii) Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba received 4 votes.
iii) Prof. Edward K. Kirumira received 2 votes.

"The University Council has therefore recommended Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe to the Chancellor, Prof. Ezra Suruma for appropriate action," said Eng. Dr. Charles Wana-Etyem.

Diploma Holders Admission Lists under Government Sponsorship for 2026/2027 AY

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released lists of Diploma holders admitted under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

Under the Diploma Holders Government Sponsorship Scheme admission does not exceed 5% of the intake capacity to the respective Degree Programme.

Mature Age Examination Results for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13^thDecember 2025.

Candidates who scored a minimum of 50% passed and have been recommended by the Pre-Entry & Mature Age Committee to the University’s Admissions Committee for consideration.

The Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027 can be accessed by following this link.
