Dr. Mango Elected to SAMSA Executive

Dr. John Mango, the Dean School of Physical Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) has been elected to serve on the executive of the prestigious SOUTHERN AFRICA MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES ASSOCIATION (SAMSA) for a two year renewable term. Dr. Mango becomes the first Ugandan Mathematician to serve on the SAMSA executive.

This took place at the SAMSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Malawi last week. Dr. Mango was nominated and to the surprise of many, he emerged as one of the best three candidates, polling 28 votes, interestingly ahead of
Southern Africans.

In his words, Dr. Mango said, 'this is an excellent outcome of the Makerere-SIDA bilateral cooperation that sponsored my trip to the SAMSA conference'. He is also grateful for the continued support from CoNAS, SIDA
and DRGT.
