Don’t just learn about Uganda. Experience Uganda firsthand. The Department of Veterinary & Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University in conjunction with the Department of Veterinary Public Health & Preventive Medicine, Makerere University, Uganda, have designed this experience to facilitate diversity in student training and exposure.
Through this experience you will learn to contribute to producing a broadly inclusive, open minded, world class, and globally engaged science workforce. Studying international animal production, food safety and public health systems will provide a foundation for tomorrow’s global citizens.
This program also provides shared opportunities through collaborative research and/or fieldwork in Uganda and the U.S. in areas of mutual interest. The course will provide for career development opportunities and foster an international perspective of important issues related to animal production, food safety and public health systems.
Travel Highlights Include:
1. Site visits to:
• Livestock holder systems
• National parks and wildlife production
• Animal research facilities
• Food safety, bio-security and disease surveillance
• Traditional and industrial food processing facilities
2. Presentations by veterinary/public health experts
3. Discussions
4. Sight seeing tours
