Meeting MD Airtel Mr. Somasekhar

My meeting with the Managing Director of Airtel Uganda Mr. V.G. Somasekhar was mutually engaging. We have agreed to follow up Airtel's proposal to grant Zero-rate access to Makerere University websites so as to enable our students and staff access online facilities free of charge. I thank Mr. Somasekhar for this exciting opportunity.

Bidding Farewell to H.E. Per Lindgärde

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe (R) hands over a portrait to the outgoing Ambassador of Sweden to Uganda, H.E. Per Lindgärde (L) during his farewell visit on 21st June 2021, CTF1, Makerere University.

There was joy and yet a hard time when I bid farewell to H.E. Per Lindgarde, the Swedish Ambassador this afternoon. Makerere has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Embassy during his tenure and I wish him good health and success in his next assignment.

I launched three publications by AfriChild Centre and Makerere researchers on the role of research on children welfare. Children are our future and we must take good care of them.
