Mak Wins DAAD in-Country In-Region Scholarships

Makerere University has through the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training (DRGT), been awarded PhD  and Masters Scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The Scholarships under the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies, Eastern Africa Programme have been awarded as;

1. Makerere University, Joint application
i.  Up to 20 Master Scholarships for this years intake
ii. Up to 10 PhD Scholarships for this years Intake

2. School of Public Health
i.  Up to 6 Master Scholarships for this years intake
ii. Up to 3 PhD Scholarships for this years intake

3. School of Agric and Environmental Sciences, MSc. Integrated Watershed Management
i. Up to 4 Master Scholarships for this years intake

Commenting on the award, the Director Research and Graduate Training, Makerere University, Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi said, "We are grateful to DAAD and the DAAD regional Office for Africa in Nairobi <www.nairobi.daad.de/en/> for the support and decision. We encourage all staff to apply for these wonderful opportunities."

Applications accompanied by a CV, required documents outlined in ‘information sheet for applicants’ and the ‘Guidance document’ should be submitted in soft and hard copy to the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training, Makerere University, Research and Publications Office, Lincoln Flat B5 by 5th June, 2015 by 5.00 pm. E-mail for soft copies is: conference@rgt.mak.ac.ug In addition, a complete soft copy of the application must be sent to DAAD (applications@daadafrica.org )

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

SoL Graduands celebrate after being conferred upon their awards. 75th Graduation Ceremony, Day 1, CoCIS, CEES, CoVAB and School of Law. 13th January 2025, Freedom Square, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda, East Africa.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
