Taking Part in RUFORUM’s First Webinar Series

Published

on

Today I was hosted as one of the panelists of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Africa (RUFORUM)'s First Webinar Series. The theme for the Webinar was "Learning From A Crisis: University Leaders’ Response To The COVID-19 Pandemic". I discussed how Makerere University has responded to COVID-19 right from when I flagged off the donation of surgical masks to our partners Xiangtan University to our continued support to Government's efforts to fight against this pandemic. I also discussed how we are dealing with the issue of digital divide in the student community.

I thank Prof. Christine Dranzoa, Vice Chancellor, Muni University for chairing the session.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and President of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center signing Memorandum of Understanding as other officials witness

I signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the President of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center at Sun Yat-sen University. We have agreed to collaborate in advancing ophthalmology at our two institutions. Remarkably, one in every six ophthalmologists in China is a graduate of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, making it a leading global research hub in this field. I look forward to the fruits of our collaboration.
