FSF, MasterCard Scholars Recognized as 70th Mak Grad Concludes

The 70th Graduation Ceremony of Makerere University came to a close on Friday 17th January 2020 with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe presenting candidates from the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) and the School of Law for the conferment of degrees and award of diplomas.

Prof. Nawangwe congratulated all members of staff upon being awarded PhDs and Masters degrees in various disciplines and urged them to either form new or join existing multidisciplinary teams so as to make a personal contribution to improving Makerere's academic profile.

The Vice Chancellor thanked the Chancellor for successfully presiding over the 70th Graduation as well as the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and the Chancellor's procession for attending all four sessions of the Ceremony. He applauded the security agencies for ensuring that all four sessions proceeded uninterrupted and the Convocation for recognizing the best performing students.

In a special way, the Chancellor Prof. Ezra Suruma presented Awards of Excellence to the following graduands

  1. Ms. Kikobye Winnie; with a CGPA of 4.48 out of 5.00 in the Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration received the Makerere University Female Scholarship Foundation Class of 2020 Award
  2. Ms. Ageno Faith; with a CGPA of 4.84 out of 5.00 in the Bachelor of Community Psychology received the Makerere University MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Award
  3. Mr. Kutensa Frank; with a CGPA of 4.75 out of 5.00 in the Bachelor of Community Psychology received the Makerere University MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Award
  4. Mr. Bandoho Geoffrey; with a CGPA of 4.48 out of 5.00 in the Bachelor of Industrial and Organisational Psychology received the Makerere University MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Award

In his farewell message, the Chancellor urged graduands to have compassion and integrity, " Education without morality cannot bring happiness and prosperity to Uganda. Without integrity our future will certainly get worse."

Prof. Suruma equally urged all present in the congregation to embody the change they want to see in society. "I appeal to you and to every Ugandan: wherever you find yourself to take a stand for what is right. Be a candle in the darkness. With a candle here and a candle there we can save our country for ourselves and for our children and our grandchildren."

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
