Pulida Wo App: ULS Innovation Extending Pro Bono Legal Services to Community

Published

on

Pulida Wo is a Mobile Application developed by the Uganda Law Society (ULS) to extend Pro Bono Legal Aid Services to the masses. Pulida Wo may be translated to mean Your Lawyer/Advocate. For smartphone users, the Android Application is available for download on Google Play Store. The Application can be installed on smartphones running Android Version 5.0 and above.

How it works

Once installed on your smartphone, you will need to login with either your Gmail or Facebook account. Pulida Wo will also require access to your Location service in order to notify you of the nearest advocate.

In order to extend services to the non-smartphone users, ULS has also incorporated a USSD code. All a user has to do is dial *284*14# in order to get connected to an advocate closest to your current location. The ULS will in the month of October 2019 conduct countrywide trainings for lawyers and the public on how to use the Pulida Wo App.

Training Schedule

  • Monday 14th October – Jinja – 9:00am
  • Tuesday 15th October – Mbale – 9:00am
  • Wednesday 16th October – Gulu – 9:00am
  • Thursday 17th October – Arua – 9:00am
  • Friday 18th October – Kabarole – 9:00am
  • Saturday 19th October – Mbarara – 9:00am
  • Saturday 19th October – Kabale – 2:00pm

Pulida Wo was officially launched on 28th June 2019 but the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, during celebrations organized by ULS to mark the 9th Pro Bono Day.
