Addressing journalists during a press conference held on 9th September 2019, the Acting Director Planning and Development Mr. Kabuye Matia revealed that MakRun is part of Makerere University’s efforts to continuously engage with its stakeholders, alumni, well-wishers and the community. He called upon the public to participate in the MakRun 2019 as a way of contributing to construction of the multipurpose student’s center.

“MakRun aims at bridging a gap between the university and the public. Just like the previous editions, all proceeds from MakRun 2019 will go towards the construction of the Makerere University Students’ Centre. She said that the third edition covering 5km and 10km will be flagged off at 6:00am at the Freedom Square and encouraged well-wishers to purchase their tickets before the D-day.

“Tickets for the Run cost UGX 15,000 for students and UGX 25,000 and UGX 50,000 for alumni and well-wishers. They are sold at several centers including Makerere University Guest House, Makerere University Printery, Makerere University Main Library, Senate Building and Makerere University Main Building,” said Mrs. Musiitwa.

The Acting Manager, Communication and International Relations, Dr. Muhammad Kiggundu Musoke, revealed that the University Council approved the MakRun as an annual event and appealed to the alumni to give back to the University by participating in the MakRun 2019.
