Mak Trains Over 100 Kyambogo, Busitema, Mbarara and Gulu PhD Students

The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training (DRGT), Makerere University in partnership with the Department of Philosophy, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) has successfully conducted a cross-cutting training course for over 100 PhD students. The Philosophy of Method course was held from 12th – 23rd June, 2017 for students from Makerere, Kyambogo, Busitema, Gulu and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Philosophy of Method is one of the crosscutting courses intended for doctoral students in both humanities and sciences to enable them widen their understanding of science, knowledge and research and to intensify their basic approaches towards research.

In line with the training, The Director DRGT, Prof. Mukadasi Buyinza noted that “In these days, when people talk a lot about science, knowledge, research and accomplish numerous research studies, Philosophy of Method offers doctoral students the appropriate track towards understanding, designing and developing the proper context of their studies and research.

“On behalf of DRGT I convey our sincere appreciation to Prof Wilfred Lajul, Head Philosophy Department, for coordinating the whole training and identifying the most competent facilitators for this course” added Prof. Mukadasi Buyinza.

The course was conducted in the Senate Conference Hall, Makerere University.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
