Makerere University has unveiled a customised graduation gown ahead of the 67th Graduation Ceremony scheduled to take place from 21st to 24th February 2017.
The Makerere University Council approved the introduction of customised graduation gowns for Undergraduate and Graduate programmes (excluding PhDs) with effect from the 67th Graduation Ceremony in February, 2017.
The customised University Gown is intended to provide uniformity of the academic dress for graduands. It is professionally designed and unique with special features to rekindle the memories of this special day in your life.
In order to allow for a smooth transition, the University Management will implement the University Council resolution in a phased approach as follows:
(i) For the 67th Graduation Ceremony, the customised gowns will be sold to graduands at Shs.75,000/= on a first come first serve basis in the Basement Store of Makerere University Senate Building.
Note: Graduands who will not be able to secure customised University gowns are at liberty to buy other gowns from the open market as has been the practice.
(ii)Beginning with the 68th Graduation Ceremony scheduled to take place in January 2018; all graduands will be required to procure customised University graduation gowns.
