The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research ( CGIAR) Gender & Diversity Program is assisting Australia Awards in mobilizing applications from women PhD scholars for this new program

The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research ( CGIAR) Gender & Diversity Program is assisting Australia Awards in mobilizing applications from women PhD scholars for this new program(first run in 2010 and expanded this year), which actively encourages PhDs that are based on collaborative projects between the applicant's home country and Australia. A total of 15 scholarships will be awarded in 2011.

Created in 1971, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research <http://www.cgiar.org/>(CGIAR) is an association of public and private members that supports a system of 15 international agricultural research centers. The CGIAR Centers work in more than 100 countries to mobilize cutting-edge science to reduce hunger and poverty, improve human nutrition and health, and protect the environment. All new technologies resulting from the Centers’ research are freely available to everyone.

The CGIAR Gender and Diversity Program
In 1991, the CGIAR launched a program on gender staffing aimed at assisting the CGIAR-supported international agricultural research centers in their efforts to promote the recruitment, productivity, advancement and retention of women scientists and professionals within their organizations.In July 1999, this program expanded to include a wide range of diversity issues.G&D assists the Centers leverage their rich staff diversity to increase research and management excellence. G&D also promotes such activities as diversity-positive recruitment, international teamwork, cross-cultural communications and advancement for women.

The CGIAR Gender & Diversity Program is hosted at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Nairobi, Kenya.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
