The Makerere University School of Medicine Malaria Research Training Program, funded by the United States National Institutes of Health (Fogarty International Center) is a collaboration between Makerere University College of Health Sciences and the University of California San Francisco. The overall goal of this training program is to conduct independent and sustainable malaria research in order to address the challenges of malaria control in
Uganda. The focus areas for this training program are: malaria epidemiology, translational research, genomics, bioinformatics, and implementation science.
The program is soliciting applications for research training positions (with a
focus on malaria research) in the following categories;
- Post-doctoral training
- PhD training
- Master’s training in a health-related field
- Implementation Science (ImS) fellowship
Application Process:
Application letters should be accompanied by detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic
credentials, plan for career development (where applicable) and two professional references or
mentors in the same area of research, proof of admission at Makerere University (for Master’s)
and a research concept/proposal. The letters should be addressed to the Training Coordinator, Malaria Training Program and sent to: malariatrainingprogram@gmail.com
