The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation (CTA) has released the Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report, 2018-2019. According to the CTA website, there has been significant growth in digitalisation for agriculture (D4Ag) over the last ten years. In 2019 both the European Union-African Union Task Force Rural Africa Report (TFRA) and the Communiqué from the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) highlighted the power of digitalisation in transforming agriculture.

A short YouTube presentation (https://youtu.be/BjcDcyOz0U4) of the key findings from the Report 2019 highlights that: Africa is a net importer of food costing the continent €30billion in 2019; growth in digital solutions is phenomenal, from 41 in 2012 to 390 in 2019; Bundling financial access, advisory services and market linkages can increase income by more than 57% and yields by more than 168%; 60% of solutions will incorporate advanced technologies (Big Data, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence-AI and Internet of Things-IoT) in the next three years; only 25% of D4Ag users are women.
