Catholics urged to always give back to God

Published

on

The Parish Priest of Christ the King Church, Msgr. Gerald Kalumba urged Catholics to always give back to God. This was during the commissioning of Mother Mary’s Grotto and celebrating Community Day at St. Augustine Chapel, Makerere University on Sunday 28th April 2019.

“God has given us the greatest gift of all, which is life therefore, all the wealth we have belongs to Him. It is for that reason that we should endeavor to give back to Him through supporting church projects financially, morally and spiritually,” said Msgr. Kalumba.

Commissioning the Grotto, Msgr. Kalumba prayed to Mother Mary to grant whoever comes to pray at the Grotto his/her wishes and help them receive what they have prayed for. He thanked the Chaplain of St. Augustine Church, Rev. Fr. Josephat Ddungu for organizing the Community Day since it is one way through which Catholics socialize and come together in Christ.

Speaking during the Mass, Msgr. Kalumba called upon Christians to abandon evil ways and strengthen their devotion towards God. “Let us stop doing things that hurt our brethren but instead act in accordance with the Commandments of God.”

Rev. Fr. Josephat Ddungu, the Chaplain, St. Augustine Chapel, extended gratitude to Msgr. Kalumba for accepting to preside over the Community Day celebrations and commissioning of the Groto. He thanked the University Administration for granting them space where the Grotto was constructed.

“I take this opportunity to thank each and every member of St. Augustine Community for the love and support you give to the Church. I thank you for the generous heart and pray that God blesses you always,” said Rev. Fr. Ddungu.

In a special way, Rev. Fr. Ddungu thanked Makerere University students, student leaders for their sacrifice and time dedicated towards organizing church activities especially the Community Day and urged them to continue serving the Lord even when they leave Makerere University.
