Mak VC Prof. Nawangwe Sponsors 200 Students for MakRun 2018

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has sponsored 200 students to participate in the coming MakRun 2018. The Run will take place on Sunday 25th March 2018 and will be flagged off by, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Ow'ekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga who is also an alumnus of the University at 7:00am in the Makerere University Freedom Square.

The Makerere University Endowment Run (MakRun) is geared towards mobilizing funds for the construction of a Students’ Centre worth UGX 15 billion to enhance the quality of student life and experience. Addressing journalists during the Makerere University Vice Chancellor’s Monthly Briefing on Friday 16th March 2018, Prof. Nawangwe said that the Centre will serve as a collective place that reflects dynamism of the 21st century student in the digital age. It will be a one stop Student Information centre with a state of the art Auditorium worth 2000 seating capacity and Wall of Fame.

The proposed Mak Students Centre will also accommodate Conference facilities, Cafeterias, Internet Kiosk, Memorabilia Shop, Bookshop, Recreational Sports Arena (pool, chess, table tennis, and gym), Entertainment and Social Areas,” he said.

Prof. Nawangwe applauded the College Principals who have enormously contributed to the initiative by sponsoring 100 students per college to participate in the Run. He also appreciated the staff, students, gallant alumni and members of the general public who have supported the initiative. He called upon each and every one who would love to see great developments at Makerere University to join the Katikkiro of Buganda as he contributes towards the noble cause.

“Tickets for the Run cost UGX15,000 for students and UGX25,000 and UGX 50,000 for alumni and well-wishers. They are sold at several centres including the Planning and Development Department, Makerere University Printery, Makerere University Guest House, the 10 Colleges of Makerere University, and Piato Restaurant, along Lumumba Avenue. We are again rallying your support for this noble cause, by urging all of you to warm up and get ready to participate in the MakRun 2018. Come and we make a change,” he said.

Last year, Makerere University Endowment Fund organised its first ever Makere University Endowment Run (MakRun). officially flagged off by Hon. Rebecca Kadaga; the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, the inaugural run convened thousands of people including staff, students, gallant alumni and members of the general public. A sum of UGX 247,845,000 (two hundred forty seven million eight hundred forty five thousand Uganda Shillings) was raised from the Run, both in cash and pledges.

Special University Entry Examinations for the Diploma in Performing Arts 2026/27

Students from the Department of Performing Arts on 4th April 2025.

The Academic Registrar Makerere University invites applications for the Special University Entry Examinations for admission to the Diploma in Performing Arts.

The examination will take place on Saturday 16th May, 2026.

Application process is online for those intending to sit the examination. Kindly note that there is payment of a non-refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000/- excluding bank charges in any (Stanbic Bank, Dfcu Post Bank, UBA and Centenary Bank). After filling the online application, you will be provided with 2 Past Papers.

To be eligible to sit the examinations, the candidate must possess an O’ Level Certificate (UCE) with at least 5 Passes.

The deadline for receiving the online applications is Tuesday 12th May 2026.

How to Apply

  • Application is online for ALL applicants.
  • Other relevant information can be obtained from Undergraduate Mature Age Office, Level 5, Room 505, Senate Building, Makerere University or can be accessed from https://see.mak.ac.ug
  • A non refundable application fee of Shs. 110,000= for Ugandans, East Africans Applicants (Including S. Sudan & DRC) OR US $ 75 or equivalent for international applicants plus bank charges should be paid in any of the banks used by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Diploma Holders Admission Lists under Government Sponsorship for 2026/2027 AY

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released lists of Diploma holders admitted under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the Academic Year 2026/2027.

Under the Diploma Holders Government Sponsorship Scheme admission does not exceed 5% of the intake capacity to the respective Degree Programme.

Mature Age Examination Results for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

Candidates who scored a minimum of 50% passed and have been recommended by the Pre-Entry & Mature Age Committee to the University’s Admissions Committee for consideration.

The Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027 can be accessed by following this link.
