Applications for a HI-TRAIN Master of Science in Health Informatics 2015/16

Makerere University (Mak) in partnership with Moi University and University of Bergen received a grant from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) to establish a project entitled  “HI-TRAIN: Health Informatics Training and Research in East Africa for Improved Health Care”. HI-TRAIN is under the NORHED programme within Norad.

HI-TRAIN now invites applications for a full-time two year Masters programme – Master of Science in Health Informatics. The Masters programme is tenable at Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya.  The programme will begin in the academic year 2015/2016 in September 2015.

The deadline for the applications has been extended to Friday 12th June 2015; at 12noon/Midday EAT

Qualifications for suitable candidates

  1. Meet the common Moi University School of Medicine Graduate studies Committee (SOMGSC) entry requirements as they refer to Master of Science Programmes
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in the Health Sciences from Makerere University or its equivalent from other institutions approved by Makerere University Senate.

OR

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computing or Informatics from Makerere University or its equivalent from other institutions approved by Makerere University Senate
  2. If from foreign countries, show evidence of proficiency in English language
  3. Pass admission interviews as determined by the HI-Train Graduate and Research Committee

Applicants should submit their application and CV to the School of Computing & Informatics Technology, Makerere University; attention to: Dr. Josephine Nabukenya (HI-Train Project Coordinator). For applicants at the College of Health Sciences, please submit your applications to Dr. Nazarius Tumwesigye Mbona, School of Public Health, Makerere University.

The following documentation should be submitted as attachments to the application:

  • Certificates and/or grades for all post-secondary education, up to and including the bachelor's level;
  • A motivation letter

Mode of study:    Fulltime (2 Year programme)

Venue:                 College of Health Sciences, Moi University, Eldoret
Commencing:     September 2015
Course cost:        Kshs. 174,000/= per year for East African Students and Kshs. 209,640/= per year for non East Africa. There are 10 scholarships for Makerere University Staff.

Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

Call for Applications: Admission to Postgraduate Programmes 2026/2027

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
