The Royal Academy of Engineering, UK invites applications for the Second Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation aimed at stimulating, celebrating and rewarding innovation and entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Arfica.
Applications are invited from engineers affiliated with a university or research institution in sub-Saharan Africa who have developed innovations that can provide scalable solutions to local challenges. Engineers from all engineering disciplines are invited to enter.
The overall winner of the GBP 25,000 prize will be announced at a high-profile event in May 2016.
Applications close at midnight on 29th June 2015
Makerere submitted four entries from the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) during the inaugural awards, two of whom were shortlisted and given extensive business training to develop their innovations. The inaugural prize also received entries from 15 different countries across Africa, where Makerere's Dr. Moses Musaazi-CEDAT/T4T also served on the panel of judges.
