Making waves at the Africa Hydropower meet 2010

ESI Africa is a leading energy publication distributed quarterly to over 5000 decision makers. ESI Africa’s Hydropower Africa 2010 Conference, 16 – 20 August 2010, was a niche meeting forum where comprehensive presentations, panel discussions and focused sessions were addressed on the issues surrounding the financing and the implementation of hydropower projects in Africa.

ESI Africa’s Hydropower Africa 2010 Conference, 16 – 20 August 2010, was a niche meeting forum where comprehensive presentations, panel discussions and focused sessions were addressed on the issues surrounding the financing and the implementation of hydropower projects in Africa.

Areas touched on included the bright future for hydropower in Africa, where it is expected that by 2020, hydropower is to account for 79% of East Africa’s total new additional generation capacity. At least 20, 000MegaWatts of hydropower capacity is expected to be added to sub-Saharan Africa’s hydropower capacity by 2015 through both refurbishments of existing old plants and the construction of new projects.

Dr. S.S. Tickodri-Togboa, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Finance & Administration in his capacity as Chairman, Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) was a speaker at the Hydropower Africa 2010 Conference. While in Johannesburg, he was also invited for an in-studio interview on Hydropower in Africa, particularly focusing on the developments in Uganda.

Aptitude Exam (Paper 1) Results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme 2026/2027

The Office of Academic Registrar, Makerere University has released Aptitude Test Examination results for the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations held on Saturday 13th December 2025.

The Candidates who scored 50% and above in the aptitude test passed the aptitude examination and will have their programme -specific examination paper marked. Those who scored less than 50% failed.

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University invites applications for admission to Graduate Programmes (Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctoral Degree Programmes) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Applicants should have obtained at least a first or second class degree (or its equivalent) from a Chartered University at the time of completion. Applicants should also possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (or its equivalent).

Sponsorship:

All Graduate Programmes are PRIVATELY-SPONSORED. Therefore, applicants seeking sponsorship should have their applications endorsed by their respective sponsors where applicable. Applicants should note that the various fees payable to the University indicated for the various programmes EXCLUDE functional fees, accommodation, books, research and other expenses.
