R-L: The Vice Chancellor-Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Nnabagereka of Buganda Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda, CWRU President Barbara Snyder and other delegates at the symposium on higher education in East Africa, Serena Hotel, Kampala Uganda

Makerere University and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) are set to mark 30 years of collaboration.

Relationships between Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals, and Ugandan institutions such as the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) and the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) have led to the development of an extensive research, education, and training collaboration with Uganda. All research procedures and laboratory facilities are directed on-site by Ugandan scientists, many of whom have received advanced degrees from CWRU through training program grants.

Preceding the celebrations, the Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and CWRU President Barbara Snyder and other delegates took part in a symposium on higher education in East Africa sponsored by the  International Law Institute and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).
