Call for Abstracts: GARA 2020 Scientific Meeting

The Global African Swine Fever Research Alliance (GARA) has issued a call for abstracts for the upcoming 2020 Scientific Meeting scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th April 2020 at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel Kampala, Uganda.

Deadline for abstract submission is 14th February 2020

Uganda-Hunan Sign MoU to Boost Graduate & Vocational Training

This evening, Wednesday 11th December, 2019 at the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Hunan Province of China, Mr. Alex Kakooza, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Sports has signed an agreement of cooperation in the area of higher and vocational education with the Deputy Director of Hunan Department of Education. The agreement paves the way for student and academic staff exchange between Uganda and Hunan. Under the agreement Ugandan students will get scholarships for masters and PhD in various disciplines at the more than 100 universities in Hunan.

Mak to double scholarships for female students

Makerere University Female Scholarship Foundation (FSF) is set to double scholarships for female students from 20 to 40 slots with a comprehensive package. This was revealed by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), Prof. William Bazeyo during the FSF Resource Mobilisation Dinner which took place on 6th December 2019 at Kampala Serena Hotel, Victoria Hall.

Code named " Drop a 'coin' and forever change a life", the Resource Mobilization Campaign is aimed at ensuring sustainability of the FSF.

Makerere University on Monday 9th December, 2019 hosted the Quarter Four (Q4) Vice Chancellors’ Forum 2019 in the Senate Conference Hall. The half-day event was addressed by the Executive Director, National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), Prof. Mary J.N. Okwakol. The University Leaders were received by the Acting Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Dr. Umar Kakumba together with the Academic Registrar, Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah.

The Vice Chancellor-Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe appreciates the Christmas Spirit in Shenzen, China on 6th December 2019 ahead of the inauguration of the Mak-UNESCO-ICHEI International Institute of Online Education.

I have arrived in Shenzhen, China for the inauguration of the International Institute of Online Education, co-sponsored by Makerere and UNESCO-ICHEI. In a country with less than 2% Christians, it is amazing the level of decoration for Christmas.
