The Big Ideas 2019-20 Contest @Makerere Launches! Wednesday October 16th, 2019 at 5:00 - 6:00pm, Innovation Centre, CoCIS Block B, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

Big Ideas is an early-stage, student-led, innovation contest that connects students with the mentorship, training, and resources needed to successfully conceptualize, deploy, and scale their social ventures. Open to undergraduate and graduate students at Makerere University and 11 other Universities, the Contest awards up to $300,000 in prizes annually. The Contest is hosted by the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) at Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), and is open to all enrolled graduate and undergraduate students at Makerere.

Mak-EU to commemorate the International Democracy Day

Makerere University in partnership with European Union is organizing a debate on; the Role of Parliament in shaping representative democracy in Uganda; to commemorate the International Democracy day. Scheduled to take place on 19th September 2019, the event is bringing on board politicians, members of parliament, diplomats, professors, researchers, journalists, activists and key leaders to debate the global perspective on democracy.

MakRun: The Third Edition Ends Blissfully

On Sunday 15th September 2019, thousands of participants comprising staff, students, alumni, friends and well-wishers assembled in the Freedom Square for the Makerere University Endowment Fund Run (MakRun).

The Third Edition of the MakRun which  started with aerobics at 6:00 am, was flagged off by the Chief Runner, Prof. George Mondo Kagonyera at 7:00am.

EfD-Mak Centre is organizing a one-day training on Environmental Valuation, Evaluation and Accounting.

The training scheduled to take place on Friday 27th September, 2019 at the College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) Conference Room will target experts from public and private sector including: government ministries, agencies, researchers, academic staff and students.

This is the first seminar and one of the main activities to be undertaken by EfD-Mak Centre following its official launch on 29th August, 2019.

Two4One Talent for Change Contest Against Sexual Harassment, Auditions: Friday 13th September 2019, Poolside, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. Organised by GMD in partnership with the Students Guild

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate as one of its strategies for increasing awareness and mitigating sexual harassment at Makerere University has organized the Two4One for change contest against sexual harassment in partnership with the Students' Guild. The three-phased event will start on Friday 13th September 2019 with the auditions at the poolside at 5:00 pm. Eliminations will then be held on on 20th September 2019 and Finals on 4th October 2019.
